Today we are really excited to shine the spotlight on our two inspiring interns, joining our lab for the summer through the prestigious AMGEN-Program.
Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hana is a bright student from the University of Sarajevo, where she is pursuing a degree in Biology with a focus on Genetics. With just one year left until graduation, she has set her sights on gaining invaluable international experience and exploring new horizons for her master’s degree.
Hana’s journey to our lab began with her mentor’s recommendation of the prestigious Amgen Scholars Program, recognizing her drive and academic aspirations. Passionate about Evolutionary Biology and Neuroscience, Hana joined us to dive deeper into these fields and to see what opportunities might await her in advanced studies abroad after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree.
At her university lab, Hana has already made significant strides in her research by dissecting rats to study the impact of microplastics. However, this summer marks her first experience working in a large, well-equipped research facility. She’s eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the groundbreaking work we do here.
As a former volleyball player, she brings energy and team spirit to her scientific endeavors. When she’s not immersed in research, Hana enjoys exploring nature by hiking through scenic trails.
Sofia, our second talented intern, has joined us from the prestigious Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Sofia is currently studying Pharmacy and is enrolled in an integrated master’s program with two more years to go before she completes her degree. Her journey in academia is far from over, as she has her sights set on pursuing a PhD and delving deeper into the world of pharmaceutical research and development.
Sofia came to our lab, with a great portion of experience, particularly in the cutting-edge field of nanomedicine. Her previous research endeavors have equipped her with a unique perspective and a strong foundation in this innovative area, making her a valuable addition to our team.
In addition to her academic and research pursuits, Sofia is also an avid cyclist. This balance between rigorous scientific research and a love for the outdoors helps her maintain a well-rounded and fulfilling lifestyle.
We are delighted to hear, that both of them describe the team spirit as one of the best aspects of working here at eLab. They enjoy the collaborative environment, where ideas are freely exchanged, and everyone works together towards common goals. We are so proud that our camaraderie fuels their enthusiasm for pursuing science in their future.
We can’t wait to see how their curiosity and dedication will contribute to our lab this summer and beyond!
Welcome Hana & Sofia 😀🌞
