Biography
I studied biology for my bachelor's degree in Göttingen before moving to Ulm for my master's, where I specialized in Molecular and Translational Neuroscience. During this time I became interested in advanced spatial sequencing techniques and how they could be used to study biology at high resolution. This interest in spatial methods led me to join the lab, where I could dive deeper into tissue clearing.
As a PhD Candidate in the lab, my work now centers on studying cancer across the whole mouse body using tissue clearing, with the aim of uncovering interactions that are easily missed with conventional, 2D approaches. A particular focus of mine is understanding how peripheral nerves communicate with cancer cells — a question that benefits directly from being able to look at intact tissue in three dimensions.
Alongside imaging, I'm working to bring new omics techniques into the lab's workflow, so that what we observe in 3D can be analyzed in greater molecular depth. This sits at the intersection of tissue clearing, spatial omics, and pathology — and I enjoy the collaborative, interdisciplinary nature of the work, drawing on expertise from across the lab and beyond.
Outside of work, I like spending time outdoors — hiking and biking — as well as time with my partner and our dog.
