Biography
I am a neuroscientist born and raised in Rio, Brazil. I completed technical training in Biotechnology, earned a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, a master's degree in Biophysics, and a PhD in Biological Chemistry. Following my doctoral training, I moved to the United States to work at the California National Primate Center. In 2026, I joined the Ertürk Lab in Munich.
My research initially focused on applying high-resolution microscopy to better understand the neurodegenerative processes associated with Alzheimer's disease. Over time, my interests expanded to investigating the neurological consequences of viral infections, including those caused by the Zika virus, HIV, and, more recently, SARS-CoV-2. A major goal of my work is to contribute to the development of novel therapies and the identification of biomarkers for post-acute infection syndromes such as Long Covid.
Outside the laboratory, I enjoy going to movie theaters, strength training, reading science fiction, and spending time with my two cats.
